Edwardian Summer Dress

Pattern: Butterick B6610

Fabric: 3m of champagne lace chambray, approx 1.5 m of white linen

Notions: 6m of lace (two different types)

I think this pattern looks more complicated than it actually is, and other than running out of lace halfway and needing to pop to the store (thank god we are no longer under lockdown), there were no major snafus. I made it at a size that was big enough to slip over my head without needing closures because I loathe doing them.

The linen is really lightweight and that has its pros and cons — great for the weather but it frays incredibly easily. I bound the edges with bias tape and for once the innards of my garments don’t look like a bear went through them. The waistline is a bit higher than my natural waistline and that wasn’t really on purpose…but that’s okay. I love the ribbon detailing around the waist, although admittedly that was to make up for my inability to join bodices to skirts properly. Overall, I had a lot of fun making it!
