I was going for a late Victorian/early Edwardian seaside-inspired look inspired by some of the images I found while mucking around Pinterest as well as a Victorian bathing costume.
I used the the trusty truly Victorian skirt TVE21, and Folkwear Victorian bathing suit 253 pattern for the top. The stripes on the sleeves were accomplished with really thick and expensive ribbon bias binding. There is also embroidery on the sleeves and scarf that decorate the blue bias binding. This outfit is probably the favourite so far and I had a scare when I hand washed it and the blue dye got over the white. Thankfully after a wash in the machine the blue went away. I’m not exactly sure how that happened.
For the hat I painted a regular straw hat. Happy to report that the layers of paint and Modge Podge made the hat pretty solid
