The pink one so terrify
Fabric used: pink shantung, approx 3m for the skirt and 2m for the jacket Patterns: the jacket comes from a class (though the sleeves are just my regular gigot pattern), the skirt pattern is the truly Victorian trumpet skirt that I’ve used it for the red skirt too. Notions: loads of lace (3m x 45”),Continue reading “The pink one so terrify”
My experience with TAF.TC Singapore sewing classes
Just a disclaimer: these are my own experiences and if you have a problem with that please contact my assistant, Strax at 1800-DOG-ASSIST thank you. Everything I sewed during lockdown video + rant about social media
Like most countries, Singapore went into lockdown from April to June, though of course they had to call it something different (just call a spade a spade and not some STEM term guys). I did manage to do quite a lot of things during this period of time, though it was mostly out of self-preservationContinue reading “Everything I sewed during lockdown video + rant about social media”
Other Miniatures
I do love me some creepy-crawlies (except roaches…just no). I made some insect hair accessories that both fascinated and disgusted my friends. I also make other miniature animals, mostly for my friends and their pets I also make miniatures of the floral variety. I try to diversify beyond just roses and camellias
Embroidery
I do embroidery occasionally. It’s quite a huge strain in my eyes (not like sewing isn’t) but I do enjoy it in small doses. Its quite painstaking — the sunflower took me 2 weeks, though admittedly I procrastinated like a pro.
Paintings
I use a combination of markers, watercolours and paint for these. I think I’m much better at landscapes than I am at portraits, and the only portrait that I’ve done doesn’t even have a face. I really liked this painting of the young Queen Victoria with her King Charles spaniel, Dash. I too have aContinue reading “Paintings”
Miniature people
I’d admit that sculpting/painting people is not my strong suit, but I hoped that I made it up in the little objects. I went through a phase where I made a lot of these as gifts for my friends and lecturers.
Train Dioramas
I adore trains, especially steam locomotives. While I do like model trains, I don’t like to just have them there so I try to incorporate them into something “useful”. I made this bedside table with a huge shadow box which I stacked on an old table I had lying around Prior to that, I madeContinue reading “Train Dioramas”
Lady Tremaine
I have a confession to make: this blouse no longer exists . The fabric I used, which was some on-sale, thick-as-curtains polyester, was just impossible to wear without getting heatstroke. The gigot sleeves were also improperly drafted and sewed on wonkily, resulting in a lumpy mess that resembled a tree Burl . It’s pretty inContinue reading “Lady Tremaine”
